Shipping Information
Avian products are shipped through the U.S. Postal Service or United Parcel Service ("UPS"). Fairest Finches & Supply ("FF&S") makes every effort to package merchandise so that shipping costs are minimized as much as possible.
Birds are shipped only via Delta Air as "live cargo," and only when temperatures along the flight route are between 60°F or below 85°F. Also, FF&S does not ship young birds until they have completed their juvenile moult.
Customers are required to pay Delta Airlines for actual shipping costs upon receipt of the bird(s) at the Delta Cargo facility. The cost to ship birds via Delta Air Cargo currently is estimated to be $125.00. In addition, Fairest Finches & Supply charges $20.00 for each shipping container used to ship live birds via Delta Air.
Customers are responsible for picking up their bird(s) at the designated airport and time. Delta Air Cargo flights may be delayed for reasons beyond the control of Fairest Finches & Supply.
Upon placing an order for shipment of a bird(s), Fairest Finches & Supply will provide the customer with an estimated date the bird(s) will be available for shipping and will make a reasonable effort to notify the customer of any and all revised estimates of the shipping date. Customers who order birds that are to be shipped to them by FF&S are responsible for notifying FF&S of any and all dates and times during the seven calendar days prior or subsequent to the estimated shipping date and any revised shipping date(s) that they cannot be reached via telephone or email for shipping notifications.
At least 5 calendar days prior to shipping the bird(s), FF&S will attempt to contact the customer via telephone or email regarding payment in full of any remaining balance on the outstanding order and to obtain a range of potential dates and times for shipping the bird(s).
At least 24 hours prior to shipping a bird(s), Fairest Finches & Supply will schedule a flight with Delta Air and attempt to contact the customer via telephone or email to confirm shipment of the bird(s) and provide the scheduled shipping information.
In the event Fairest Finches & Supply is unable to confirm shipment with the customer during the 24 hour period prior to scheduled shipping, FF&S will cancel the scheduled flight and the birds will not be shipped.
A minimum order of $500.00 (US) is highly recommended for airline shipping. An order can consist of birds, avian products, or a combination of the two. A deposit of 50% of the total amount of the order is due and payable when the order is placed. The total amount of the order must be paid in full at least 48 hours prior to the ship date. Due to the round-trip costs Fairest Finches & Supply incurs to deliver birds to the nearest Delta Cargo facility, a delivery fee of $40.00 (US) will be charged on orders under $250.00 (US) that are shipped via Delta Cargo.
In the event a bird(s) dies during transit while in Delta Airlines' possession, customers MUST file a claim for the loss with Delta Airlines BEFORE leaving the airport premises. Delta will NOT accept late claims. The loss amount claimed should include the cost of the bird(s) and shipping. File the claim with Delta Airlines before contacting Fairest Finches & Supply.
